Pool filling is priced by the tanker load, not by the pool. So the real question is how many loads your pool needs — and that comes down to three measurements you can take yourself in five minutes.
Rough cost by pool size
- Small plunge pool (6m × 3m): around AED 300–550
- Standard villa pool (8m × 4m): around AED 600–1,100
- Large villa pool (12m × 5m): around AED 1,200–2,200
Based on sweet water at commonly advertised rates. Your quote depends on access and timing.

Work out your pool volume first
Length × width × average depth, all in metres, gives cubic metres. Multiply by roughly 220 for Imperial gallons.
Average depth matters more than people expect. A pool that slopes from 1.2m to 2m has an average depth of about 1.6m, not 2m — using the deep end alone overestimates volume by a third and you end up paying for a load you did not need. We work through the arithmetic in detail here.
Cost by pool size
| Pool size | Avg depth | Approx. volume | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6m × 3m | 1.2m | ~4,750 gal | AED 300–550 |
| 8m × 4m | 1.5m | ~10,500 gal | AED 600–1,100 |
| 10m × 4m | 1.5m | ~13,200 gal | AED 800–1,500 |
| 12m × 5m | 1.6m | ~21,000 gal | AED 1,200–2,200 |
Two 10,000 gallon loads usually beat four 5,000 gallon loads on total cost. Where access allows the larger vehicle, say so when booking.
What changes the number
Access
If the tanker cannot park within a normal hose run of the pool, the job takes longer and may need extra hose. Villas with rear gardens and no side gate are the usual culprits.
Timing
Same-day and late-evening slots can price differently from a booking made two days ahead. In peak summer, booking ahead is both cheaper and more reliable.
Water type
Pools take sweet water. TSE is cheaper but is prohibited for swimming under UAE rules, so it is not a saving available to you.

Do not fill from the mains and assume it is cheaper
Filling a large pool from your DEWA supply can push you into a higher consumption tier and can take days. For anything above a plunge pool, tanker delivery is usually both faster and more predictable.
What a refill costs versus a first fill
A first fill and a refill are different jobs. A first fill takes the pool from empty, so you are paying for the full volume. A refill after draining for maintenance is usually the same volume again — but a seasonal top-up is a fraction of it.
Most villa owners in Dubai do a full fill once, then buy top-ups. If you are budgeting annually, the top-ups are the recurring number, not the fill.
| Job | Volume | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|
| First fill, 8m × 4m | ~10,500 gal | AED 600–1,100 |
| Refill after draining | ~10,500 gal | AED 600–1,100 |
| Monthly summer top-up | ~1,500 gal | AED 120–250 |
Three ways to bring the cost down
Order one large load rather than several small
The route and driver cost is the same regardless of capacity. Where access allows a 10,000 gallon vehicle, it beats two 5,000 gallon loads on total cost.
Book ahead of the day you need it
A planned delivery can be routed with other work nearby. An urgent one displaces committed jobs, and that is what carries a premium.
Cover the pool
Evaporation is the single largest ongoing loss in a Dubai summer. A cover on an unused pool cuts the top-up bill materially over a season.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to fill a swimming pool in Dubai?
Most standard villa pools cost roughly AED 600 to AED 1,100 to fill with sweet water. Small plunge pools start around AED 300 and large pools can exceed AED 2,000.
How many tankers does a swimming pool need?
A standard 8m by 4m villa pool holds around 10,500 gallons, which is two 5,000 gallon loads or one 10,000 gallon load plus a top-up.
Can I fill a pool with TSE water to save money?
No. Treated Sewage Effluent is prohibited for swimming and bathing under UAE rules. Pools take sweet water.
How long does it take to fill a pool by tanker?
Each load takes roughly twenty minutes to an hour to discharge once on site, depending on capacity and hose run. Multiple loads are usually scheduled back to back.
Is it cheaper to top up a pool than to fill it?
Yes, considerably. A top-up is normally a single small load, so you pay for one delivery rather than several.
Is a pool refill cheaper than the first fill?
No, if you drained it fully — it is the same volume. Seasonal top-ups are the cheap recurring cost, at a fraction of a full fill.
What is the cheapest way to fill a pool in Dubai?
One large load rather than several small ones, booked in advance rather than urgently, and a cover to reduce how often you top up.
