Search water tanker price Dubai and you will get a wide spread of numbers. The honest answer is that it depends — but not vaguely. It depends on six specific things, and once you know what they are you can compare quotes properly instead of picking whichever number looks lowest.
Short answer
- Small residential loads (1,000–1,500 gallons) are commonly advertised around AED 120–200.
- The popular 5,000 gallon villa and pool size is commonly advertised around AED 300–550.
- Bulk 10,000 gallon loads range widely, roughly AED 450–1,100.
- Per-gallon cost falls as capacity rises. One big load usually beats three small ones.

Water tanker price Dubai: typical rates by size
The table below reflects rates commonly advertised by Dubai tanker suppliers. Treat it as a sense-check on whether a quote is in the normal range, not as a fixed tariff — there is no regulated price for tanker water in Dubai, and every supplier prices its own route and source.
| Capacity | Typical advertised range | Approx. per gallon | Commonly used for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 gal | AED 120–200 | AED 0.12–0.20 | Emergency top-ups, small villa tanks |
| 1,500 gal | AED 150–200 | AED 0.10–0.13 | Small villa storage |
| 2,500 gal | AED 200–400 | AED 0.08–0.16 | Standard villa tanks |
| 5,000 gal | AED 300–550 | AED 0.06–0.14 | Large villa tanks, swimming pools |
| 10,000 gal | AED 450–1,100 | AED 0.045–0.11 | Commercial premises, active sites |
| 15,000 gal | AED 800–1,000 | AED 0.053–0.067 | Labour accommodation, bulk project supply |
Notice how wide the 10,000 gallon band is. That spread is not suppliers being arbitrary — it usually reflects a genuine difference in water type, source distance or what is bundled into the price.
The six factors that move the price
1. Water type
Sweet water, irrigation and TSE water, and salt water are collected, handled and transported differently. Verified potable-quality water normally costs more than non-potable supply because the source, vehicle designation and quality controls are stricter.
2. Capacity
A larger tanker costs more per trip and less per gallon. Where volume allows it, a single large load is nearly always cheaper than several small ones for the same total quantity.
3. Distance from the filling point
Fuel, tolls, driver time and the empty return journey are all real costs. A delivery in Jebel Ali priced from a Jebel Ali source is not the same job as the same load taken to Mirdif.
4. Access at your delivery point
This is the factor customers most often forget. A straightforward roadside discharge and one needing a gate pass, a reversing manoeuvre in a tight community and a forty-metre hose run are different jobs even when the water is identical.
5. Timing and urgency
A scheduled delivery is priced against a normal slot. A tanker needed within the hour is priced against whatever is genuinely free at that moment. We operate 24 hours a day without an automatic night premium, but immediate dispatch is always quoted against real availability.
6. One-off or recurring
Standing schedules are quoted differently to spot call-outs. If you expect to need water repeatedly — and most properties on tanker supply do — say so at the first enquiry rather than after the third delivery.

Why water type changes the number
Three different waters are sold by tanker in Dubai and they are not interchangeable.
| Type | Typical use | Never use for |
|---|---|---|
| Sweet water | Villa tanks, swimming pools, household and commercial supply | — |
| TSE / irrigation | Landscaping, grounds, dust suppression | Drinking, kitchens, bathing, swimming pools |
| Salt water | Specified industrial and project applications | Drinking, domestic use, pools, most concrete work |
UAE federal rules prohibit treated wastewater for drinking, kitchen use, bathing and swimming. Choosing TSE because it is cheaper, for a job that needs sweet water, is not a saving — it is a compliance problem and potentially damage to planting, equipment or a pool.
Worth knowing
“Sweet water” is a commercial description in the UAE market, not a regulatory certification in itself. If your requirement genuinely needs certified potable water — a labour camp kitchen, a food premises, a nursery — ask the supplier explicitly about the source and current testing rather than relying on the word alone.
The gallon trap: Imperial or US?
This one quietly distorts price comparisons and almost nobody mentions it. A “5,000 gallon” load can mean two materially different volumes:
- 5,000 Imperial gallons ≈ 22,730 litres
- 5,000 US gallons ≈ 18,927 litres
That is a difference of roughly 3,800 litres — about 20% — on loads advertised with the same number. DEWA engineering documentation uses Imperial gallons, and most established Dubai suppliers quote on that basis, but advertisements frequently say only “gallons”.
Practical tip
Ask any supplier to state the volume in litres on the quotation. It takes one message and removes the single most common source of an unfair price comparison.
What a complete quote should include
Before you accept a water tanker price in Dubai, check the quote actually covers the whole job:
- Water type and, where it matters, the source
- Volume in litres, not just “gallons”
- Whether VAT is included
- Hose, pump and operator
- Waiting time allowance and what happens if it is exceeded
- Any gate pass, permit or site induction requirement
- Total for multiple trips, if the job needs more than one load
How to compare two quotes fairly
Convert both to AED per litre delivered, then confirm they are the same water type and include the same services. A quote that looks 15% cheaper often turns out to be US gallons, non-potable water, or a bowser rental where you still pay for the water separately.
If you are still unsure which capacity suits your property, our tanker size guide walks through measuring a tank or pool, and each of our service pages covers the typical volumes for that requirement.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a water tanker in Dubai?
Advertised rates across Dubai suppliers typically run from around AED 120-200 for a 1,000 gallon load up to AED 450-1,100 for 10,000 gallons. The water tanker price in Dubai depends on water type, capacity, distance, access and timing, so always ask for a quote against your actual delivery point.
Why do suppliers quote such different prices for the same size?
Because the load is not the only variable. Distance from the filling point, whether the water is certified potable or non-potable, access difficulty, waiting time and whether a pump is included all change the number. Two quotes for 5,000 gallons can be for genuinely different jobs.
Is TSE water cheaper than sweet water?
Yes. Treated Sewage Effluent is typically quoted below sweet water because the source, handling and vehicle requirements differ. TSE is for landscaping and irrigation only and must never be used for drinking, kitchens, bathing or swimming pools.
Does the price include VAT and pumping?
Not automatically. Confirm whether the quote includes VAT, hose and pump, operator waiting time, gate passes and any test certificate before comparing suppliers.
Is it cheaper to order one large tanker or several small ones?
Almost always one large load. Dispatch and driving costs are spread across more water, so the per-gallon rate falls as capacity rises. The exception is when access physically prevents a large vehicle reaching your tank.
